Michiel Hegener, the Author of the book “The Kurds of Iraq“:
“During my 12 journeys through Iraqi Kurdistan (resulting in my book The
Kurds of Iraq) I’ve met many kurds who said they would like to leave
islam, that it was not their religion at all, that they were made muslim
on the day they were born when they couldn’d say anything back. They
would like to leave islam, they all said, but they might well be killed
if they did leave. And they did not want to risk their lives…
Prohibition of apostasy is what keeps Islam together, without the death penalty for leaving, islam would have vanished from the Earth soon after Mohammed and all mankind would now be living in a completely different world!"
